Honestly, I'm actually very similar to you in your feelings about diary-type stories. I think it's because they put too much emphasis on 'confession' and kind of work against maintaining plotlines, because to list a great deal of action in a diary would come across as incredibly awkward. After all, why would you be telling yourself about something you'd done? You know what you did!
I'm hoping Kyo's charisma will hold up :P I think he will probably get his own fic when I'm done with Fifteen Years...I have a long summer of writing ahead of me!
